Configuring Apache2:

The local path to the main Apache HTTP Server configuration file is: /usr/local/etc/apache22/httpd.conf on FreeBSD.

Running Apache2:

The www/apache22 port installs an rc script to aid in starting, stopping, and restarting Apache. The local path for the rc script is: /usr/local/etc/rc.d/ directory.

To launch Apache at system startup, add the following line to /etc/rc.conf:

If Apache should be started with non-default options, the following line may be added to /etc/rc.conf:

apache22_flags=""

The Apache configuration can be tested for errors before starting the httpd daemon for the first time, or after making subsequent configuration changes while httpd is running, by issuing one of the following commands:
