lowest numbered MX record points to local host

Q: I see this error message in Exim main log file:

2008-02-14 00:30:00 lowest numbered MX record points to local host: DOMAIN.TLD (while verifying USER@DOMAIN.TLD

How cani I fix this problem?

A: This messages means that DOMAIN.TLD is using a remote Mail server and the entry for that domain exists in /etc/localdomains on local server. If DOMAIN.TLD doesn not use a remote Mail server, then the entry for that domain name in the file: /etc/localdomains is missing and you need to add it, manually.

SSH to the server, and using your favorite Linux Text editor such as vi or pico, add DOMAIN.TLD to the file:

/etc/localdomains

Save and then restart Exim
